It's been a long time since I’ve written anything for the site. A VERY long time. So, what have I been up to?
Working, making models, spiraling in and out of a depressive state hard enough to make the walls shake. That sort of thing. In fact, the only thing that seems to have kept me somewhat grounded was the model making. My reading has all but stopped again… maybe six books this year so far. The act of assembling models, adding detail, enhancing detail, priming and painting has been much more stimulating for my brain. Reading, writing and the like tends to leave my mind way too open for wandering.
I don’t want my mind to wander, I want it to stay grounded.
Every project I’ve had going for this site seems to have come to a screeching halt, as well. I hate that I’ve let this go by the wayside, but I’m not sure what to do. Other than re-group, and keep trying.
Here’s the thing: I do enjoy making these Box & Slime comics, but the full issue I have written right now is about halfway illustrated. The artist I’m using is wonderful but has been super busy. So it sits at the halfway mark, and it’ll be close to a year full gone I’m sure before it is even close to being completed.
I do have new comics for the site, but I’d rather get a few more done and get to a point where I can post them consistently for a few months. I do as many as I can between work, but they’ve been frying my brain.
Excuses. That’s what I’ve got a lot of today. But, I’m writing this, so I hope this is a step in the right direction? Maybe.
I wrote a comic script a few years ago. Had some wonderful concepts drawn, really went the full way of bringing it to life. I even hired a second artist to get that on the way. This one took a deposit and then has ghosted me continually. That one hurt, mainly because once that money is given that’s pretty much the end of that. I’m not sure what hurts more, someone not doing work you hired them for, or the idea that my comic, once again, has been delayed.
But, keep on moving forward! I’ll write another script, get more artwork done, find SOMEONE who can maybe keep to a deadline and help.
Speaking of which, if any artist is looking for work please contact me through this webpage, or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org I really need someone who can work with deadlines and commit to a full project!
I guess that’s enough for today. I’m watching the clock and I need to be getting to work.
